Tradition Salsa

Our favoirte family tradition is our Christmas advent calendar.  Each day in December leading up to Christmas, one of our 4 children get to open the door to a day on the advent calendar.  In addition to pulling out a character of the Nativity story (camel, innkeeper, Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, etc) and setting it up on the magnetic stable scene, they pull out a slip of paper with our family acitivity of the day.  Activities range from something as small as reading a Christmas story at bedtime, dropping our change in a Salvation Army can, taking a new toy to a Toys for Tots bin, to something as big as going to see NFL football game, or to a Toby Mac/Skillet concert.  The point of the tradition is to make sure we are spending time together as a family during one of the craziest times of the year.  On a side note, Tradition Salsa is a great side item to bring to any Christmas event you are attending.  But make sure to buy double because even though the Spirit of the Season is to give, you will definitely want to keep some for yourself as well!  :)

Our grandchildren come to visit us in St Louis each spring break.  The last couple years we have gone to a Cardinals game.  The kids all get new Cardinals gear and this year one of our grandsons even got a haircut while watching the game.  That could be a tough tradition to repeat - but a great memory!
